With my 2 group programs starting on March 18th, I figured it would be great to answer the question I get from most of you. What is the nutrition purification all about?
I have done some secondary research for you to also refer to in addition to sharing some insight.
Changes in the world food economy have given to a shift dietary patterns such as an increased consumption of diets high in fat and low in unrefined carbohydrates (WHO,2003). In addition to these dietary trends, due to reduced physical activity, we are seeing increases in lifestyle non communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke and some types of cancer.
Given my role as a nutritionist and backed with research, I designed the Green Balance Nutrition Purification Program as a specialised meal plan that brings healing and balance. The body has time to heal as certain foods are eliminated for a given amount of time and as super nutrient dense foods are introduced. The program encourages the development of healthy habits as our philosophy at Green Balance is that our habits can lead us to or away from reaching our highest human potential.
The Green Balance Nutrition Purification Program is an elimination diet. But don’t let the name scare you!
An elimination diet allows the body to heal by removing pro inflammatory foods for a specific amount of time. While people do experience weight loss on this program, this is not the main goal. The program is extremely revitalizing, energizing and healing. Given the nature of this type of diet, I recommend only doing this with a trained and experienced nutritionist.
The concept of the elimination diet to improve health was first proposed by Albert Rowe in 1926 with regards to food allergies. In 1976, Hall referenced the use of an elimination diet for treatment of behavioural disturbances including headaches, learning disabilities, depression and schizophrenia” related to allergy of the nervous system. The focus of elimination diets is to remove specific foods from the diet in an effort to eliminate potential allergens that occur naturally in food (wheat, corn, eggs, dairy, soy) or artificial ingredients that may have allergenic or even toxic effects (sythentic food additives, carrageenan, sodium benzoate, hydrolyzed, proteins, artificial colours, artificial flavours and sweeteners, flavor enhancers as MSG).
How it works
Practice makes perfect and it takes 21 days to make or break habits. Even though we are following a meal plan it is a great opportunity to set new intentions to get closer to the best person we can be and the support and confidence to practice the new skills
The Green Balance Nutrition Purification Program is a 21 day group program. I am here to support the team at every step of the journey. We have optional weekly meetings where we share our experience as well as do Body Composition readings. I also give support to the team via the What’s App group created where I can answer all questions that may pop up.
There is a new program every month and some clients do the program every few months to stay balanced and healthy.
